Taare Zameen Par - A Masterpiece

Taare Zameed Par - directed and produced by Aamir khan itself. The main characters are Darsheel safary (the child) and Aamir khan. THIS IS MY LAST MOVIE REVIEW FOR THE YEAR 2007 AND I WANTED TO REVIEW A VERY GOOD MOVIE. THIS MOVIE DESERVES IT.

This film strongly concentrates on a dyslexic child. Darsheel was a child studying 3rd class. When every other child in his age thinks in a way, he thinks different. He sees everything different. He has a inability to read alphabets, because of which he is not able to study or concentrate. But he does drawing well. There is no one to understand his problems. His parents always scolds him to do things in right way and they failed to think, whether he suffers with any problem. Then he was put in a boarding school.

This is where he meets Aamir khan, art teacher. Aamir understoods the kids problem and helps him to recognize alphabets. He turns the kid in to a bright boy.

This movie doesnt have any commercial, masala, fights, comedy, romance, action and other factors which we expect. But this has one strong message, about a child. This movie will definitely change the way you look you kid. This movie deserves lot of awards.

I dont have words other than saying excellent. Its a great work by Aamir Khan.

Mirugam - Definitely Animal

Mirugam - Tamil movie directed by sami has Aadi and Padmapriya in the lead roles. This movie is about AIDS awareness and it deals with a story happened during 1980's, when AIDS infiltrated tamilnadu.

Aadi was the so called mirugam, who is a tough person and also a bad guy with the character of an animal. He never cares for others and does what ever he wants. Ganja karuppu, who is with Aadi, has done excellent job in makes us laugh. The first half of the movie shows how people are affected by Aadi and his worst character.

In the second half, the movie takes a turn. Aadi is affected by AIDS and he is the first person to get affected in tamil nadu. Then the movie goes about how people react for aids and how this guys character get changed.

Director has taken a serious concept and handled well. He is able to tell people what ever he wanted to say. This is really a awareness movie. Aadi's performance is excellent. This movie will get a name to Aadi and padmapriya, like Paruthi veeran for Karthi and priya. The second half is more of sentiments which drags the movie a bit.

Overall this movie is a good lesson.

Grudge 2

Grudge 2 - Movie directed by Takashi Shimizu. Casts are Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amber Tamblyn, Arielle Kebbel, Teresa Palmer and Jennifer Beals.

"A young woman, Amber, is exposed to the curse which affected her sister sarah. The supernatural force, which fills a person with rage before spreading to its next victim, brings together a group of previously unrelated people who attempt to unlock its secret to save their lives." - This is the theme of the movie.

As it is a horror movie, i dont want to discuss the story line. This japanese movie Ju-on, is released in english as Grudge. But this movie is not worth for it. The horror scenes are predictable. There are lot of twists in this movie, which shows the skills of the director. But, i have to admit, that these twists in the story are excellent, if it was in a thriller movie. Since, this is a horror flick, it didnt suited well.

Its just wasting time to watch in theatre. Better watch it in TV.

Welcome - Welcome to 'no worries' world

Welcome - Bollywood movie by Anees Bazmee and the casts are Akshay kumar, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Paresh rawal, Feroz khan and Katrina kaif. This movie is by the director who already given us "No Entry".

Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and their boss feroz khan are the famous mobsters in Hong Kong. They all wanted katrina (Nana patekar's sister) to get married in to a respectable family. They found that Akshay is the best choice for katrina. Paresh rawal (Akshay's uncle) without knowing about Katrina's brother, accepts for the marriage. But later he came to know about it and wanted to stop the marriage.

He brings in Mallika and creates confusion in the marriage. Later akshay, wanted to change the character of Nana patekar and Anil to convince his uncle.

This movie as a whole is excellent entertainer. Dont think about story, logic etc., because you cant find it. This movie is only to have fun while watching it. Performance of akshay, anil and nana patekar is good. Feroz khan comes in late but is in good form. Paresh rawal is excellent when comes to comedy and did it again.

If you want to relax and have fun, certainly watch this movie.

Puli Varuthu - Dare to dream

Puli Varuthu - Tamil movie directed by G.V.Kumar with Ramesh and Mallika kapoor in the lead roles. Infact, i could say karunas as the hero of the movie. Except for his comedy, there is nothing in this movie.

Ramesh is a s/w engineer and his parents did love marriage. So, they wanted his son to fall in love, as they believe in his. They also do some attempts for making his son fall in love. ( Are they really parents for him or ...? ). When Ramesh travels for his friend marriage, he dreams some strange events. But in reality, most of the things doesnt match.

In his another dream, he saw his father got heart attack and died, on the occasion of his marriage with mallika. Now, he is in confusion, whether to marry or not. Finally, they experiment with the dream and concludes that dreams wont be true.

This could be one of the worst movie, i saw recently. Music is also not good. The only compromising factor in this movie is the comedy by karunas. He brings out some laugh. But other than this comedy, dont expect anything from the movie. Because there is nothing in the movie.

DON (Telugu) - Not up to the mark

DON - Telugu movie by ragava lawrence which has Nagarjuna and Anuksha in the lead roles. This is not the story of hindi don or tamil billa. This name "DON" has got nothing to do with the original versions. This is entirely a different story.

A boy named surya (nagarjuna) who always fights against bad things, helps a group of kids. From then he became the leader to that group. Finally he becomes the don. But, he is not the DON, which is characterised in other movies. Here DON is good guy, who helps public. People go to him for justice. (Instead of don, he should be called as god).

An international don, who captures state by state in india, find trouble in andra because of local DON (surya). Then the story continues with his attempts to capture AP and surya's attempt to save the state.

Nagarjuna is stylish, but not fitting properly for DON role. This could be an impact of the tamil and hindi versions of DON, which i had seen recently, because of which this telugu movie doesnt meet my expectations. Portraiting him as a don, they shouldnt have let him to fall for love. unnecessary songs and storyline.

In a nutshell, the name DON is wasted for this movie, which could have been utilised for some other good movie.

Severance - Office outing cant be worser than this

Severance - A thriller / horror movie directed by christoper smith from UK. Its yet another movie in the category of "Hills have eyes", "Wrong turn" etc. It meets the expectations of this genre.

Seven colleagues from the british office, goes for an outing to enjoy their weekend, where they can also take part in the team-building excercises. In the middle of their journey, the road was blocked by a tree. The driver refuse to take the alternative route. They decide to stay in this forest itself for their weekend.

And so the remaining story is very usual. They find a lonely house inside the forest with nobody inside. In this gang one by one, gets killed by some unknown. Finally two people alone will escape from that jungle.

Even though the story is not something new, the thrills are good. Its an exciting movie for fans who loves thrill.

I am Legend - will smith deserves it

I am Legend - Hollywood movie by franchis lawrence. Cast i could only say Will Smith and ofcourse the dog. Even though the core concept is a kind of virus attack, dont expect this movie to be like resident evil, dead man walking or in that genre. This one is really exceptional and no shedding of blood except in one or two scenes.

After the infection of virus in new york, Will smith is the only survivor. The people who is infected turned into zombie-like cannibals, who wont come out in sun. They will only come out in dark. So, Will smith will search for other survivors during the day and get himself locked in his house during night. This happens for three years and his only company was his dog.

Then his dog is also infected and dies. Two other survivors joins will smith and they wanted to move to some other place where humans are still alive. But will smith, wanted to find cure for this virus and he resist to move from the place. He also find the cure, but he is surrounded by zombies. So, he gives the medicine to the two survivors to make use of the formulae and lets them escape. He kills himself, while trying to kill the zombies.

The first half of the movie is only with will smith and the dog. The zombies is also not shown. But will smith, with his extra ordinary acting, keeps the scene interesting. The expressions which he shows are all excellent.

Its a very good science fiction movie.

Billa 2007 - Rocking

Billa 2007 - Remake of old tamil movie Billa, by vishnuvardhan. Ajith (with a stylish appearance), Nayanthara (fit for hollywood), prabhu, rahman and namitha are in the lead roles.

Storywise there is not much of a change from the old Billa. The original Ajith, who is actually a criminal will be killed by the police officer, prabhu. But Pabhu wanted to catch the entire gang and so, he plans to send another person who has the same appearance of the criminal in to the gang and collect the details. In the meantime, prabhu was killed and how this new ajith will prove that he is not a criminal is the rest of the story.

Even though the concept is derived from the original version, few alterations has been made. Thengai Srinivasan character is eliminated. Also, there are few changes in the screenplay, which we can notice. In hindi, the remake version of Don, had a change in the climax which was not there in the original. But in Tamil, the climax is same as the old version.

I could say everything is perfect in this movie, they are able to deliver what they planned to. Ajith's look is rocking. After a long time, he is giving a big hit. Nayantha looks slim and sexy. She reminded angelina jolie in few scenes. At this point, we should also give the credit to one more person. He is no other than yuvan shankar raja. More than the songs, the theme music is superb. Background music is excellent.

Overall this movie is a very good entertainer. Its racy, stylish, etc......

Beowulf - Good 3D Animation movie

Beowulf - English Animation movie produced by Robert Zemeckis. Beowulf character is created like Ray Winstone and the Evil woman is Angelina jolie. This is not a new story, and this movie differs only in the way it is directed.

Beowulf is a Great Warrior who travels to Kingdom of Danish, accompanies by few of his warriors. There was a creature who troubles the people and Beowulf kills that creature. With that he becomes the hero for those people. He also meets the mother of that creature, angelina jolie. She wants to take revenge on him, but on a different way. She offers him the opportunity of being a king, for a price and with that the story continues.

This story can be seen in many movies. And this has no suspense in it, we can always predict whats going to happen. The only advantage is the way it is presented. Overall its a good movie for the people who like to watch animation movies.

Kalloori - Back to college

Kallori - Tamil film by Balaji Sakthivel with all new faces except Tamanna. This movie is under the banner of Sankar and so has some expectations. Also, balaji given a hit with Kadhal previously. This movie certainly not disappointing.

A group of friends who finishes school, joins a college near to their village. Tamanna joins the same college for being with their grand parents. She joins in that friends gang. Then the movie goes pleasantly with loads of fun between the friends. Suddenly Tamanna falls in love with one of her friend, Akhil. But to avoid clashes with other friends they didnt let it out. In the climax, when they are about to express, there awaits a tragedy.

Songs are not much impressive. The movie cannot be called too good and at the same time, its not bad. Its a good entertainer. It makes us to remember our college days. Rather than i enjoyed the movie, i lived through my college life again.

Evano Oruvan - The reflection of emotions

Evano Oruvan - Tamil movie by Nishikanth which has madhavan and sangeetha in the lead roles. This is the remake of the Marathi movie "Dombivilie fast". Not sure, how much this movie will reach the audience. But, its worth to watch a quality movie like this.

Madhavan is an ordinary bank employee, with very good principles (like old kamal in Indian). He is against bribe, infact against anyone who violates / cheats the law. His wife is sangeetha and has two kids. She is portraited as a torturing woman, who always scolds madhavan for his character. In his routine life, if one day he wants to punish the people who violates the law or wants to punish the people who needs bribe, there starts the story. He doesnt fight like a hero, he fights like a normal next to door man.

Performance wise, Madhavan, sangeetha and the police officer seeman, has done their part well. This movie has lot of messages in it, rather i could say this movie is full of messages.

This is not an entertainment film. Dont expect songs running around the trees, comedy by vivek or vadivelu, fast beat tracks, Stunning stunts, expensive sets. This is not a masala mix. This movie is very natural. Its about a common man who suffers in this society and how he shows his angry. I could say this movie is a HIGH QUALITY movie, but not a entertainer.

Kannamoochi Enada - Decent time pass

Kannamoochi Enada - Tamil movie by Priya who already directed "Kanda Naal Mudhal". This movie has Satyaraj, Pritviraj, Radhika and Sandhya in the lead characters. Same like her old movie, this movie is also comedy based.

Prithvi who works in s/w firm (of his uncle) in malaysia, falls in love with sandhya. When she comes back to chennai to attend a function, she bring him also with her to introduce him to her family. Satyaraj, a police officer, alone doubts him and dont like him. Then the movie goes on with prithvi tries to impress satyaraj and how satyaraj finds fault with him.

His uncle was against his love and so, files a false police complaint about his. Now sandhya seperates from him. Also, there is a quarrel between satyaraj and radhika. How all this settles is the rest of the story.

Music is not so impressive, except for two songs. Directer wanted us to enjoy the movie and did it well. Sandhya seems to be over acted. Otherwise this movie should be a time pass, but nothing new.

Oram Po - Fast and Furious in Tamil

Oram Po - A Tamil movie by Pushkar, Gayatri and casts Arya, Lal and Pooja. Its a kind of remake of "Fast and Furious", where the original was actually excellent, but in the indian version, the seriousness is lost and only comedy exists. Also, instead of cars, here they used Auto for racing. Even though its a remake, it cannot be compared to the original, its nowhere near to it. But "Oram Po" as such is good to watch.

Arya is a auto driver and also does illegal racing with other Auto drivers. His friend and mechanic is Lal, who can tune the auto to go upto 130km speed. Meanwhile there is another mechanic, vijay who always wants to bet on these races. He always had clash with Lal. Meanwhile, love starts blooming between pooja and arya.

Arya loses his auto in a bet race and lal loses his shop. Finally they bet with Lal's favourite auto and again losing it. But, luckly they found some diamonds and with the help of it, they regain their properties.

There is lot of comedy inserted in this movie. Songs is also good. Its a good timepass, except for few places where it bored.

Rameswaram - Refugee's Love

Rameswaram - tamil movie by selvam with Jeeva and Bhavana in the lead roles. Jeeva wants to do roles which is apart from usual Heroism, this is fine but also he should show some importance in picking up the stories.

A huge bunch of SriLankan Refugees come to rameswaram. They stay in the place of local landlord, which is the rich person in that place. There are few refugees who doesnt worry much for their lives, but wants to go back. Jeeva is one of them. They doesnt want to live as refugee. Bhavana, the local rich guys daugher, falls in love with Jeeva. As usual, her father doesnt like it. As Expected, there is a person comes in, who is suppose to marry bhavana and hates Jeeva. So, how jeeva is going to marry her is the rest of the story.

The movie is just better than documentary. It has lost it fast paced movement and so makes you feel bored. Jeeva doesnt use much of srilankan tamil, where as manivannan did it well. They showed the refugees life and their expectations for some extent. But as a movie, it failed to reach the audience.

Hannibal Rising - Revenge through Cannibalism

Hannibal Rising - English movie by Peter weber with Aaran Thomas, Helena Lia Tachovska and Richard Leaf. Its actually a story of taking revenge, but not in interesting way. A bit disappointing.

Hannibal lost his parents and sister during world war 2, because of few barbarians. Later, he wanted to take revenge on them, who are responsible for their death. So, the story simply continues in the way how he plans and kills each one of them. He finally succeeds in his attempt.

The movie is no so impressive. The way he kills people is irritating. There is not much of action scenes in the movie. Thrill is also not maintained. Showing revenge in the worst form, makes the film worst.

P2 - A good thriller

P2 - English movie by Franck Khalfoun having Wes Bentley and Rachel Nichols in the lead roles. This is a movie like captivity where girl is kidnapped and tortured. But, the thrilling experience is given till the end.

Rachel is a hard worker and given more priority only to work. Before christmas holidays she wants to finish her work as much as possible and in the process, she leaves late from office. As it is christmas eve, there is no one else in the building (probably 1 or 2). She founds that her car is not starting and also the building is locked. She seeks help from the security guard of that building, Bentley.

But, she doesnt know, that he is the reason behind all these. He thinks, he loves her. But actually he hates her. He is a frustrated guy, who stays alone as security guard and desperate in search of girls. And so, now finally he decided to make her to stay with him for christmas. And so, now the cat and mouse game starts and it goes well.

Its a nice thriller and good to watch.

Sleepy Hollow - Take care of your Head

Sleepy hollow - Germany movie by Tim Burton released few years ago. Even though this is old movie, worth to write about it now. This movie has Jhonny Depp and Christina Ricci in the lead roles. A well crafted thriller movie.

Depp is sent to Sleppy Hollow (Name of a place), to investigate the decapitations of few people, where the witness says, its done by headless horse man. Depp initially didnt believe about this headless guy story. But later when he saw it by himself, he starts to investigate about it seriously and finally founds that the headless person searches for his stolen head from the grave. A black magic women, took the head from the grave and orders the headless person to kill people whom she didnt like (actually for money).

Finally, how Depp founds this truth and gives back the head to that headless horseman is the story. Depp's performance is excellent. This movie is worth to watch it.

The Messengers - one more Haunted House

The Messengers - English movie by Danny and Oxide pang. This movie has Dylan, Penelope Ann miller and Stewart. There has been a lot of movies in this kind and so, there is no freshness or excitement in this movie.

A family who is frustrated from city life, moves to a farm, which is away from city. The previous residents of the house are vanished. But still, this family enters there. Then starts the mystery, as the kids of the family see strange things. Only kids are able to see those things, which is invisible to others. No one believes them, until the climax, when everyone could see the evil.

Previously, a guy would have killed his wife and kids in that house. When that guy joins with this new family as helper, the ghosts in the house wanted to take revenge of him and did it.

This is almost like Amityville horror movie. In hindi also, we saw this kind of movie by RGV, "Vaastushastra". So, messengers has nothing new in store for us. But, can make us frighten sometimes. Nothing i could say exceptional attempt. Its a normal thriller.

Prey - Lions, Lions, Lions .....

Prey - English movie by Darrell Roodt and has Peter weller and Bridget in the lead roles. They wanted to frighten the audience with lions and only lions. The forest is lovely and the lions too.

An engineer flies to africa with his family for is official work, to a forest. When he is busy with work, his family goes for safari. ( Two kids and a stepmom ). They stuck in the middle of the forest sorrounded by lions. The entire movie is about, how they survive from lions until Peter, gets there to save them.

Lions are trained well and looks ferocious. The comical part is, every one who is there to save them is eaten by lions, except for the family. (Did the family trained to escape from lions?).

This movie is below average only. They tried to make it a thriller, but didnt work out. Animal lovers can watch this movie.

A week break

Dear all, i am very busy this week and wont be able to post about any movies. Meet you all next week with loads of movies.

Pollathavan - Dangerous fellow, the bike

Pollathavan - Tamil movie by Vetrimaaran which has Dhanush, Ramya and Daniel Balaji in the lead roles. Music composed by G.V.Prakash. This title is borrowed from old rajini movie, which gave him a break through, but its not a breakthrough for Dhanush. As i mentioned above, the dangerous fellow in this movie is not dhanush, instead its his bike, on which the story revolves.

Dhanush is from a lower middle class family. He is without job and always wastes time with his friends and also he is following his love interest, ramya. At one stage, his father gives him some amount of money for him to do his own business. But, he buys a smart looking bike which is his dream from childhood. And he gets a job because of his bike and also his love becomes success based on the bike. His family is also happy after that. So, there is a sentiment created with the bike and everything goes fine.

Now the bike is stolen by someone and because of which he has to loose his job. Everything collapses suddenly, and so he is going in search of his bike. He learns that the local rowdy balaji has stolen his bike. Then the story goes in recovering the bike and fight between them.

Movie is well directed and the music supports it well. Karunas and Santhanam, has done their job well in the given time. Dhanush didnt show his usual aggressive style until the climax fight, which is another advantage. Overall, this movie is watchable.

Om Shanti Om - Shah rukh Rocks !!!

Om Shanti Om - Bollywood movie farah khan and has shahrukh khan and deepika in the lead roles. The core concept of the movie is reincarnation. Vishal-Shekhar has done well in the music. Comedy and sentiments are no less in the movie.

First half of the movie is on 70's. Art director has done extremely well. From hair style, dressing to the way the dialogues are pronounced, its like a movie from 70's. Second half is of the present time. Shah rukh is a junior artist who is in love with a big star of that time, deepika. She is secretly married to another person. But he kills her and also shah rukh dies in an accident. Then shah rukh is reborn and now he is son of a super star. And so, he too becomes a big star. But, he was haunted by the memories of the past life. He wanted to solve the mystery behind deepikas death. And so the story goes.

Its a good combination of comedy, sentiment, songs. Shah rukh looks cool. This movie should be a HIT.

Machakaran - should be a flop only

Machakaran - Tamil movie by Tamizhvaanan with Jeevan and Kamna in the lead roles. After giving hits like "Thirutu Payale" and "Naan Avan Illai", didnt expected this kind of movie from Machakaran.

The same old love story where a unlucky guy falls in love with a girl, who is the only person understands him. Jeevan acts in the role of the unlucky person, who always pays for others fault. Kamna is the only person who sees there is not mistake from his side. And so they started as friends and ends up with love. Kamna's father doesnt like the love and she elopes with Jeevan. Finally how they convience her father is the story.

Feels like yuvan lost all his tunes. Santhanam is there in the movie, but comedy is very less. If this movie had released at some other time, should have told it as average. But this should not take risk to compete with diwali releases. Its surely a flop movie.

Vel - One more twins tale

Vel - Tamil movie by director hari which has suriya and Asin in the lead roles. Music by yuvan shankar raja and the comedy track from vadivelu. Dual role for Suriya. Storywise nothing new.

Same old wine in new bottle. The usual twins story which hits tamil cinema always. One of the Twins, played by suriya, is lost during childhood. A rich man from a village founds this child and brings him up as his own son, naming him as Vel. The other son who is with the original parents was named vasu. How vasu finds vel and unites the family is the rest of the story. As expected there is a bad guy in the village and there is always revenge between his family and vels family.

The plot is nothing new to tamil cinema. Except for this time, it is done by suriya and asin. Vadivelu comedy is good. yuvans music is less that his average performance. Movie is also less that average only. Its a masala type of movie and since there is nothing new in the story sequence, after sometime it starts boring.

Azhagiya Tamizh Magan - For Vijay Fans only

Azhagiya Tamizh Magan - Tamil movie by bharathan with vijay and shriya in the lead roles. As i said above, its for vijay fans only (dedicated to them). For others its a fate. The concept of seeing the future was slightly taken from Final Destination, but didnt suit well.

Vijay, who is a MBA student, suddenly able to see the future. He is able to see few things which is going to happen. Later, he founds out that it is nothing but ESP (Extra Sensory Perception). After seeing a strange thing in the future, he moves away from shriya. In the mean time the other vijay, who has no blood relationship with the first one but looks same, comes to chennai. Shriya mistakes him for her lover. He also acts as the original vijay for money. Now the original person comes and the fight between two vijays is the rest. The final scene, where the bad guy vijay corrects himself after hearing a lecture from shriya is the unbelievable and highlight of the movie.

Namitha comes for a song only. I dont know how she has this much craze. She looks huge. This movie has no logic in it, but its a movie so dont expect logic.

A.R.Rehman does his part well. Comedy scenes are good. Santhanam's timing dialogues are good. Even though this movie is not worst, it cannot be called as good also. (yes, it is average).

Black Sheep - Voilence of Lambs

Black sheep - Its an english movie from new zealand by Jonathan King. Nathan Meister, Danielle mason and Peter feeney are the lead characters in this film. It is suppose to be a horror / thriller movie, but brings only some comedy. Sheep did their part well than people in this movie.

A younger brother who has a phobia of sheep, returns home after fifteen years. His brother who maintains the farm, does some experiment also with the sheep, which is kept as secret. But some agency is trying to find it out. Finally, they found that the affected sheeps are starting to attack humans and infects them. How our hero is gonna stop these mess is the rest.

Better to avoid this movie. If you still want to go, dont keep expectation of a horror movie, instead assume you are going for a comedy flip.

District B13 - Classic Action Movie

District B13 - Its a french movie called "Banlieue 13", which is released as district b 13 in other countries. Directed by pierre morel and has cyril raffaelli and David belle as the lead characters.

The plot is very simple. The french government has erected giant walls around the most dangerous neighbourhoods. Inside these walls, the criminals were ruling the place. David belle, who belong to that place, wanted to be honest. And so he protests against Taha, who is the drug lord and ruling the place. The first 20 mins of the movie where david belle was chased by Taha's people is awesome. He was actually kept running and jumping off of random things in all possible ways.

The other guy who is a police official is later introduced. These two guys is now joined together for diffusing a bomb, which is with Taha.

The action sequences in the movie is extemely good. Even though the movie didnt concentrated much on the story line, action and chasing scenes through out the movie kept high.

Definitely a good action movie to watch.

Disturbia - Well crafted Thriller

Disturbia is a hollywood thriller movie directed by DJ caruso. I could say, it is the best thriller category movies in the rating of PG13. They didnt show any horror faces or any murder scenes but the movie is directed well with suspense.

The story is very simple, like any other serial killer movies. But the way the plot is taken, is really good. First half is bit slow, showing why the boy got house arrested and introducing characters around his house and what he is doing for time pass, since he is house arrested. And slowly they showed the crime and the hints and the second half was really good. A new approach to thriller movies.

I will really suggest you all to watch this movie. Worth watching it.

SPEED - Remake of Cellular, attempted badly

Speed - Bollywood movie by Vickram Bhatt. Star cast include Sanjay suri, Urmila, zyed, aftab. Already the remake of hollywood movie "cellular" has come in tamil as Vegam (sucks). Now, they did it in hindi also. But why they are interested in spoiling the masterpieces.

Speed first half is somewhat acceptable, but second half is dragging. A secret agents wife is kidnapped and they demand him to kill the Prime minister. In the mean time, the kidnapped urmila, tried to call someone and ended up with zyed. How zyed tracks her and saves her and PM is the rest.

Cellular was so thrilling and the core concept was maintained through out the movie. But here, they added few toppings which is not good for the movie. Especially, the love story which is parallely happening in the movie between zyed and tanushree has killed the thrill.

Better to watch "CELLULAR", atleast in dvd than this movie. If you have no way to watch english movie, then go for the SPEED.

The Marine - Why this name?

The Marine - hollywood movie by John bonito. This movie has John Cena, Robert patrick and Kelly carlson in the lead. As the name sounds, this movie is not about marine. The first 5 minutes of the movie shows a Marine rescue operation and after that, its all something else. Then why this name - they only have to explain.

John Cena is a marine guy who is discharged from service for disobeying orders in order to save his friends life. So, he goes back to normal life. But Cena's wife is kidnapped by diamond thieves for no reason (probably for cena to rescue). So, the movie goes with cena going behind them for saving his wife.

John cena looks like well built robot. His body building is good, but no reactions in his face. The movie holds good for wrestling, especially cena fans. But expectation is not met. So, if you planned to watch this movie, go with zero expectation.

Dynamite Warrior - Diwali Greetings

Dynamite warrior - a martial arts movie from chalem wongpim. The movie has Dan chupong and Leo Putt in it. The core concept is no different from a tamil movie. A young boy watched his parents gets murdered. He is desperate to take revenge. He has seen a mark on the murderer's body, based on which he searches for that killer. The only twist is, two people having the same mark.

Its the story from 1900's. A wealthy land lord wants to sell tractors and so he pays some mercenaries to go and steal rural villagers cattle, by which they will be forced to buy tractors. And there comes our Dynamite Warrior who spoils this idea. In the process of searching the people who killed his parents, he also tries to fight against the land lord.

He uses rockets as weapon. He also rides on rockets that he powers from his fingers shooting some spark on it. Whenever he fires rockets, it reminds me more of diwali celebrations only. The stunts are not worth for a martial arts movie. The movie doesnt worth for its name.

Athidhi - Mahesh babu

Athidhi - Telugu movie by surender reddy. A heavy masala movie from mahesh babu. The audience who knows mahesh babu from movies Okadu and Pokkiri, this movie is quite different. This is a normal story outline, where there is comedy, action etc.

The story is about a orphan boy who finds shelter in Amrita's house. But by mistake, he is punished for the murder of amrita's parents. After coming out from jail, he wants to help amrita and also to find the actual murderer. There is nothing much from the story line, but the way the gangster is depicted is good. It is the thrilling part of the movie.

Mahesh babu new looks appealing well. Music is not that worth for this movie. Its a bit lengthy movie, otherwise can be watched once.

The Invasion - Do not fall asleep.

The Invasion - hollywood movie by Oliver Hirshbiegel. This is a good science thriller movie. There is lot of alien movies which is already come, but this one is quite different. Here they dont show the alien, but its the bacteria which does the horrible things and the movie based on it is well crafted.

Nicole Kidman is a psychiatrist who finds out, that a bacteria which becomes catalysed during sleep and turns the human being in to emotionless humans. They also try to infect others. In the process of trying to analyse this with her boyfriend daniel crieg, nicole gets affected by the bacteria. Now to save her son, she should not sleep until she finds a cure.

This is a nice concept and also shaped well in the movie. This movie can be watched once, not bad.

Brutal - yes it is

Brutal - hollywood movie by Ethan Wiley. Its another horror / thriller movie in the series of hostel, saw etc. But dont ever compare this movie with those masterpieces. This movie shows some brutalised murders, but doesnt initiate that "whats next" feeling while watching the movie. Sarah Thompson did her role well and also looks good.

Sarah thompson, sheriff's deputy, investigates a series of murders. Soon she finds out a serial killer is behind this. She tries lot of ways to find out the clue, but nothing extra ordinary. This is seen in lot of movies already. Finally she finds out the killer. The killer uses mathematical expression to select girls for murdering them.

Dont expect too much logic and dont compare with other horror movies. In that case, this movie can be watched once.

The other Side - Low budget thriller

The other side - hollywood movie by Gregg Bishop. For a low budget horror / thriller category, this is a good movie.

After death, Nathan Mobley escapes from Hell to find the person who killed him. There are few others who also escaped from hell. There is another set of people who are called "Reapers" are sent to take these people back to hell.

First half of the movie goes with the action sequences between persons escaped from hell and reapers. Second half deals with the investigation of Nathan Mobley who wanted to take revenge on people who killed him and his girl friend.

There is lot of action sequences and twists in the movie to make it interesting. Movie is watchable.

Veeramum Eeramum - another gangster story

Veeramum Eeramum - tamil movie by Sanjay Ram. He has an approach of giving only action movies with some gangsters involved in it. This movie is not good as his earlier one, "Thoothukudi". This movie casts Saravanan, Deepan Chakravarthy and others.

The story is so simple, that can be easily narrated in a sentence. Its actually the fight between two family. They kill each other. One person says, violence is to maintain peace in village whereas other person says, its the revenge he takes. The movie goes with the fight between these two families. Then came the police Deepan, who wanted to put an end point for this long lasting fight. Saravanan is ready for leaving this violence where as other person is not willing to do. He is so rude, that he wanted his family to take revenge on saravanan, if he dies.

The screenplay is not so impressive. It leave us the feel of dryness. Its better to watch Thoothukudi again than this movie.

Kattrathu Tamizh (Tamizh M.A.) - Good Attempt

Kattrathu Tamizh - tamil movie by new director Ram. But the quality of the movie will make you wonder, whether this is from fresh director. Jeeva and anjali are the lead actors in the movie. Music is from Yuvan sankar raja.

The movie is about Jeeva, who is a graduate in Tamil. Even though he got good marks, he tool tamil after inspired by a tamil teacher. But he is suffered initially because of this qualification, later got a teacher job with a low salary. When he met his friend, who did engineering and is getting lakhs as salary, his thoughts becomes strange. Slowly becomes a psycho, killing the people who disturbs him. Parallely his love story is also narrated. Karuna's doesnt have much role in this movie.

The direction is excellent and this movie is a brilliant attempt. Couldnt believe this movie is from a debuntant director. Jeeva's performance is excellent. Childhood scenes should have avoided which is bit slow. This movie has got few messages too, both for the public and government. Yuvan did his job well.

A good and class movie, but not a mass entertainer. Not targetted for audience who expects movie with masala.

Aggar - so sad

Aggar - Bollywood movie directed by ananth. The movie has tusshar, udita and shreyas talpade in the lead roles. Again one more movie of type MURDER, dealing with extra-marital affair. Since, there is lot more movies of this genre in the recent past, this movie has nothing special in dealing with the same concept, except for the climax.

Udita is married to shreyas. But she is suspicious that her husband has an affair with Saadhika. Tusshar takes this as a chance and gets closer with Udita and they had an affair. But when udita comes to know that the relationship between shreyas and saadhika is only official, she tries to move away from tusshar. But now tusshar starts giving trouble to udita. And only during climax director unfolds all secrets, which turns each character in the movie exactly opposite to what they are until that time.

The movie is not so impressive except for the climax. The first half of the movie is very slow. Director should have made it much more interesting.

Next - He knows, whats going to happen.

Next - hollywood movie done by Nicolas cage. As the name suggests, cage is having the ability to see the future where he is involved in it. Its a nice thriller movie. Forget about thinking the possibility of this kind of power, then you will really enjoy the movie.

Cage is a magician who also has the ability to see in to the future which affects him. He always hides from others about his powers to avoid any complications. But a FBI agent knows about his power and wanted to use his power in tracking a terrorist bomb plot. Initially he runs away from FBI and finally joins with them in saving his girl friend and also to find the terrorist.

The direction is good and sometimes it raises a question whether the current scene is his dream of future or present. The way he finds his girlfriend in climax is awesome. A good to see film.

Johnny Gaddar

Johnny Gaddar - Hindi thriller movie by Sriram Raghavan. This movie has few good sides and one major advantage is Dharmendra. Not really needed to comment about him. Its well known. This is another thriller movie, well plotted.

There is a gang of five members, where they have an offer to make fortune in four days. Each has to invest 50 lakhs for it. One of the member has to take it to banglore. The youngest member in the gang, Neil mukesh, wanted to loot all the money. So, in the process he by accidently kills the person who is travelling money. When each one in the gang finds out the truth, he kills them. Finally, when he kills all four people and about to escape with the money, he was killed by another lady.

This movie is well crafted by sriram and the background music well suited for the movie.
People who like thrillers can watch this.

Malaikottai - so tired after watching the movie

Malaikottai - tamil movie directed by Boopathy Pandian. It has Vishal and Priya mani in the lead characters. An usual story plot, especially with Vishal films. First half comedy and second half action. I think he is never going to change this formula. But his success story cannot continue. This movie reminds me of all his earlier films except for Chellame, where the story is completely different. From Sanda Kozhi, till Malaikottai, the story never changed. Always, its the hero gets in to some problem in first half and loaded with action in second half. This movie is not an exception for it.

Vishal falls in love in priya mani (its obvious). But she is not interested and to avoid the complications, she says that she is in love with the bad guy. There started the problem and the criminals are now behind her. How vishal is saving her from them and winning his love is the story.

Vishal has to change his trend. Priya mani did well. Music is average. For those who watched, vishal's earlier movies, this movie will be nothing new.

Urchagam - No Urchagam by watching the movie

Urchagam - Tamil movie by ravichandran. This movie has Nanda and Sherin in the lead roles. Sherin is looking cute in this movie. Nanda with his beard, tries to resemble surya's image in Mounam Pesiyathe. But he is no where near to surya.

Nanda and sherin is good friends in this movie. While Nanda is about to express his love, Sherin tells him about the marriage proposal which she got from dinesh, NRI. Nanda thinks that he is not a good match for her and didnt express his love. But Dinesh always suspects sherin, which made her to avoid dinesh. Finally she tries to escapes from him and get back to nanda. Atlast nanda saves her from dinesh and they express their love.

This movie is so boring that it leaves an headache while you leave the theatre. Only, compensating factor is Ranjith's music. Ranjith rocks in his music. But you can hear the music in audio casette itself. Dont attempt to listen it by watching the movie.

Urban Justice - Shoot everyone

Yesterday i happened to see stevan seagals - Urban Justice. We could call it as his come back movie, as he didnt do any good films in the recent times. He looks aged, but fit for the role.

The story is very simple and its a one liner. Kill the people who killed seagal's son. And so the story goes like, seagal tracing for the guy who killed his son. In the process, he has to kill lot of people, infact every frame of the movie, he kills one person.

The unnecessary gangsters dialogues should have been avoided in this movie. Action scenes are good. This movie will be a treat for seagal's fans. For others, if they love action then this movie will help them.

India - The twenty20 World Champions

Again another thrilling victory for indians, beating pakistan in the First Twenty20 world cup finals. Indians who were not in good form in league matches, made upto finals and also won the world champion title. Am i dreaming???

The final match is most expected and bigger, as it is between India - Pakistan. Even though indians struggled sometimes, finally won the match. Great cheers to team india (Young india).

SIVI - Thriller / horror

SIVI - After a long time, full length tamil horror movie. This movie is casted by Yogi, jayashree and anuja. Dharans music is somewhat acceptable. As it is a thriller movie, i dont want to reveal anything about the story. As far as i believe, this movies wont disappoint anyone.

Since its a horror movie, its better for the kids to stay away and also for the weak hearts. Dharans background score is an additional plus for the movie. Even though there is no character named sivi in the movie, the director relates the name to movie only in the climax.

Go, watch, frighten and enjoy !!!!!

Nam Nadu - only Politics

Tamil movie - Nam Nadu - having sarath kumar, karthika in the lead is a movie loaded with full of politics. The usual story where one independant MLA's support needed to decide the government and he will demand for Internal affairs ministry. This is not new for tamil political cinema.

The story is of a youth (sarath kumar) who wants to help people. But this selfish rulers are not doing anything for people, so he steps in to politics. He contests independently and wins a seat. But, his decision is critical for which party to rule and he demands internal affairs ministry. Once he gets that post, then he tries to change the entire tamilnadu with his power.

This movie is a treat for sarathkumar fans, especially for his followers in politics. But not to anyone else. So, beware...

Satham Podthey - sssshhhhhh!!!

A good film by vasanth. Yuvan shankar also did his part well with music. This movie stand apart from traditional masala / love / action movies. In the beginning movie goes slowly, but later it picked up the speed. The second half is thriller.

Padmapriya gets married to a guy who is impotent. Then she gets divorced and marries prithviraj. Now the first husband, kidnaps her and makes others to believe that she is dead. Finally, prithviraj finds her and first husband goes to mental hospital for treatment.

Vasanth has done very good attempt. Music adds value to this movie.

Cheena Thaana 001

I had good expectation for this movie, but it failed to meet my expectation. By seeing the trailer, i expected this movie to be like panchathanthram. But, this movie is so disappointing. Only, compensating factor is vadivelu. Other than his comedies, the movie is so boring.

Director T.P.Gajendran's cheena thaana 001 has prasanna and sheela in the lead roles. Music is also not worth to listen.

Marudamalai - existing police stories + 1

Arjun with his same old formula, nothing new in story. The first half of the movie is full of comedy festival with vadivelu. Arjun gives way to vadivelu in first half and even if arjun comes in first half, it will be a comedy scene with vadivelu only. Vadivelu rocks !!!

Second half is as usual a masala with fights between police arjun and villian. This movie almost comes under the category of GIRI with comedy and action having equal contribution. This movie stands high with comedy, but failed with same old story plot in second half. We have seen enough cop stories with this same trend. When will this trend is going to change.

Raghuvaran has very little chance to show his performance. He has become old. Nila doesnt have any chances to act. First half is assured comedy and second half is at audiences risk.

AAG - No Fire, only Ashes

I saw Ram Gopal Varma Ki AAG last week, but writing my comments after a week. Because the disappointment from this movie is that much. From the day the production started, people started comparing this with sholay. Since the company was RGV, expection level was too much and RGV didnt even attempted to meet the expectation.

AAG is nowhere near to Sholay, the ever green movie. RGV didnt deviated from the original story. He framed the same story, same character names. But still this movie, didnt appeal. It has good first half and lengthy and voilent second half. Music is another disappointment. RGV burnt his fingers with this movie. Even though he has given flop movies in the past, with this movie he has spoiled his name as he tried to remake a wonderful movie, but the movie is flopped.

Ram Gopal Varma should learn from the failure of this movie. Instead of doing 10 movies at a time, he should concentrate on 1 or 2 movies and make it a hit. He has that potential, but it is missing in the recent times.

People who are fans for sholay, stay away from this movie.

Natwest series - Its india

India did a blunder in the 7th one day match with england. England won the series with 4-3. When england team is able to play well in the same ground, how come indians alone not ableto play there. Tendulkar is not at all lucky. He is cursed with umpire's wrong decision. Dravid didnt show any performance in this series. I dont like to talk anymore about this match.

India's Pulsating win - level the series

Yesterday, india won the 6th one-day match of OVAL series and to level the series with 3-3. England challenged india with 316/6 with a very good batting especially in the last 10 overs. Shah scored 106 and wright scored 50. Mascarenhas hit 5 sixes in the last over. England scored 114 in the last 10 overs and 30 runs in the last over alone. Dravid took a worst decision of letting yuvaraj bowl for the last over and ended up in 5 sixes in that over.

India gave a excellent reply to england. India won the match by 2 wickets. Indias openers again did a wonder with 150 runs partnership. Tendulkar scored 94 completing his 83rd ODI fifty. Again lost 100 in 6 runs. In the last 6 times, when he crossed 90, he is not able to make it up for 100. Anyway, thats a tremendous batting from little master.

Ganguly also did his part with 53 runs. Dravid failed to give his contribution for this match. Gambir and Dhoni added 47 and 35 runs respectively. Uthappa scored stunning 47 and took india to victory. It was a nailbiting match, almost like a thriller movie. The last 5 overs made me restless. Uthappa and tendulkar, both deserved for man of the match. But, man of the match was given to Tendulkar. Lets hope india will win the series.

Pallikoodam - Good old memories

Pallikoodam - a movie by Thangar Bachan, has Naren, sneha, thangar and shreya reddy in the lead. This is one of the classic movie given by him. This movie is not action or comedy oriented, its more of emotions and sentiments. (sweet memories).

The story is very simple. A school faces trouble and about to get seized. The whole movie is about how the old students of the school join together and save the school. The comedy sequences which comes in flash back surely makes us laugh. Each actor is given chance to prove his performance and they did well. Bharadwaj's melodious music is another plus point for the movie.

If you liked the movie Azaghi, then this movie will impress you. In the current trend where people wanted to see, racy action movies, this movie is a good alternative. It can attract audiences who has little patience to watch slow pace movies. The movie reminded me of the old school days. It will surely bring back the memories.

A day at Vishakapatnam

Wednesday (29th August), we were at vizag. We stayed in Daspalla hotel. Actually, its a good hotel in vizag, but we spent sometime in finding the hotel. Again on wednesday, we went to college for campus recruitment and it got over only by night 9pm. We have no other option than taking rest on that day.

Thursday (30th August), our flight is scheduled at 2pm for returning to chennai. So, we had time till 12 noon for visiting any local places. First we went to simhachalam, lakshmi narasimman temple. Its located in a hill, 20 kms from vizag. The journey in the hill is too good and i could see only trees, everywhere.

From there, we went to Rushikonda beach, 8 kms from vizag. It has got a beautiful scenic view. It is also called silver beach as the water is glittering. We didnt had much time to spend over there. So, quickly we finished our photo session and returned to hotel. In a hurry we went to Airport and finally reached chennai. While returning in flight itself, i was planning to go for a movie in the evening, to kill the time. Lets see in the next blog, what movie i have watched.

A day at Bhimavaram

Monday (27th august) evening, i was travelling to bhimavaram, which is located at Andra Pradesh, near vijayawada. We actualy went for campus recruitment. We reached there on tuesday morning. From the time we stepped down from train, till we left from there, it was raining.

Bhimavaram is a nice location. Even though we didnt had time to visit places over there, while travelling in train itself, i happened to look at the locations. It was green everywhere. (Absence of huge buildings). From morning till evening, we were in college itself. Lunch is too good (sea food).

Tuesday Evening we left to vizag by one Innova and one Qualis vehicle. Again it was raining through out the way. Its a 6 hours journey and since we didnt get tickets in train, we had to travel by cars. The highway between bhimavaram and vizag is good and it was leading towards west bengal. The journey was not so good for me, as i feel uncomfortable for long journey through car. But i have no other option. The next day we are in Vishakapatnam.

Yamadonga - an excellent entertainer

Yamadonga - telugu film directed by Rajamouli, With NTR Jr., Mohan Babu, Priya Mani and Mamta in the lead roles. This movie is a mass entertainer, especially for NTR jr, fans.

Here goes the story. NTR jr, is a thief, who sells the stolen things to mamta. Once he was angry and scolds Yamadharma. By that time Yamadharma was in a meeting with Devas and they accidently hear this. Yama got angry with this youth and wanted to teach him a lesson. Even though he has to live for 100 yrs, Yama with his powers kills NTR jr, and takes him to narakam. NTR jr, came to know about this and steals Yama's PAASAM, which is a powerful rope. Then the scenes followed were the fight between YAMA and NTR jr, for the post of Yamadharma Raja. Finally, Yama take that rope back again, but since NTR jr, knows the fact of his death, yama send him back to earth and plans to kill him again. But this time, the love of priya mani saves him. So, yama himself comes down. Watch the movie, to know the climax.

This movie has a slight touch of Rajini's old tamil move - "Adisaya Piravi". NTR Jr, has shed more than 15kgs for this movie and he looks very slim. He has done his part well both in action scenes and dance sequences. The movie is full length comedy except for the climax. Music is also good.

What are you waiting for? Go and watch this movie.

Aata - play the game

Aata - telugu movie, directed by Aditya has Siddharth and Ileana in the lead characters. Movie released 3 months, but i had to opportunity to watch it only today. Its a mix of Comedy, Love and some action.

Siddharth's father works in a theater and he grows up watching films playing in that theater. Ileana escapes from Munna, who tries to marry her without her interest. In the process, Siddharth saves her and they both fall in love. As a twist, he takes her back to munna's house and wins munna's confidence.

Now Siddharth plays a one sided game with Munna. Till climax, he acts like helping munna to marry Ileana. But finally, Munna came to know about the fact and the game ends, once police arrested Munna for the crime which he did few days back.

This movie is not an action movie, but went without boring. The screenplay went good, except for the climax. Watchable movie.

1408 - Dont check in here.....

This movie based on Stephen Kings short story, is a nice thriller / horror movie, where there is not much of ghost coming in the screen but the thrill is always there. Beware heart patients.

The story is based on a writer who pens about the haunted locations. He gets a post card with a warning message, not to stay in room no. 1408 of dolphin hotel. As he is doing research on these kind of imaginary things, he cannot resist to go there. In the beginning, he is not allowed to stay in that room, but somehow he checked in.

Then the story slowly begins, with the events happening in that room. John Cusack, performed well as a victim in that room. In the beginning he was bold, then slowly started to believe the imaginary things and finally he lost to the room. In all these situations, his expressions describes a lot.

A well crafted horror movie. Do you dare to stay in room no. 1408?

The Condemned - Must Watch

An Exceptionally good movie from WWE films. The two great things to say about this movie, (1) The movie itself (2) Stone Cold Steve Austin. For wrestling fans, especially stone cold fans, this movie is a huge treat. Loads of action and thrilling sequences fill this movie.

A producer wanted to give live streaming of this survival fights between 10 prisoners. This is to make his production to reach all customers. In the process, he choosed 10 prisoners and an island where he placed cameras all over and dropped the prisoners. They were given 30 hours time, in which out of 10 only 1 should survive. And that one will be set free. If there are more than one, after 30 hours, the explosive device which they are wearing will explode. They cant even tamper it.

This is a racy movie, in which we know already that, only stone cold will survive as he is the hero. But the direction and the story plot is too good. Cannot resist to watch this. This movie is targetted for all action, thrill and wrestling fans. Must watch, if you only believe in action.

AARYA - Boring ya

I dont know in what confidence they are producing these type of movies. Even the songs are not up to the mark. Its an usual story plot, where the criminal's sister falls in love with hero and what happened to the love is the climax.

Bhavana looks cute and our madhavan is also smart. Vadivelu comedy is good, atleast that didnt disappointed me. Prakash raj, who is a criminal and bhavana's brother, showed his rude character only in the introduction scene. After that he started playing comedy role. That could be a plus point for the movie.

Songs are not worth to listen and the background music is also not fit for the movie. In general i wasted 150 minutes for watching this movie.

Captivity - Get imprisoned in this movie

Its a nice Psycho thriller from Lions Gate Entertainment. Even though it reminds the other psycho thriller movies, this movie still does the job well. Elisha Cuthbert done her role to the best. Direction is awesome.

As like other movies in this genre (saw), this movie starts and ends with a house, where elisha is locked in a room and cameras fixed all corners of the room and monitored 24hrs. Instead of involving too many victims, this movie had only one and the story goes with the escape attempts by that person.

Director kept the pace of the movie in peak for the entire 90 minutes. This is a must watch movie for people who like thriller / psycho category.

Rush hour 3 - no need to rush

After long gap yesterday i watched rush hour 3. With much expectation i went, but not got disappointed at the same time not upto expectation. Jacky is the plus point for the movie and his comic actions scenes. More than action, this part of rush hour concentrated on comedy itself. Its not as good as Rush hour 1 and 2. But its a nice time pass.

Since i am busy with work, not able to give a detailed review. In short, dont be too desperate to watch this movie. But, this movie will definetly be a time pass.

Project went live ( hurrah !!!!! )

NEW.SAMACHAR.COM Yesterday my prestigious project went live. I am so excited, thrilled, happy about it. Even though in my 7 yrs experience, i have delivered lot of projects, this one is special. In all my previous projects, i know exactly when we are going to take it live. But in this project, till the last minute, we are eagerly waiting for the signal. My Independence day celebration

Yesterday the independence day celebration was a memorable one. We celebrated in office. Not with the usual chocolate, but with cakes and puffs. In the last 7 years, this is the first time we are celebrating in office.

This day was special to me for another reason also. Check out my next blog :)

Status of today

Last 3 days was very hetic. Fully spent in office. Even though our part in that project is over, still there is some issue outside the application. The application is really fast for some 4 or 5 hrs and then for few hrs its very slow. utimately there is no consistency. From friday till saturday, i was arguing that its not application problem. Only on sunday afternoon, they accepted, that application is not a problem, after seeing the speed at that time.

Now they are looking at other reasons for the performance issue which occurs sometimes. So, now also, i cant reveal the site name. Wait till the issue gets sorted out.

Because of these problem, last weekend got screwed up and not able to watch any new releases. Will try to update those movies in this week and will give review.

yet to take live

Dont expect the beta version site name from me. :)) The site is yet to take live. As i assumed, the servers are not ready yesterday. Only yesterday night, the port openings went through. So, today we believe, we could finish take it live. Even though, we didnt get the full set of servers, we can make the site live, as its only beta version. The available servers could manage the site.
So, again wait till tomorrow for site name :)

Rushing up in last moment

Yesterday through out the night i was working for making a project live, but not yet completed. Suddenly, decision was taken to make this beta version live by today. Its a complex setup, where currently for development we used only single server, but while going live it should be in distributed environment. Which means, this task will take its own time, but people are driving things faster by fixing deadline as 24hrs.

This is highly unacceptable, but what to do. Thats the fate of IT professional. We clearly know that most of the modules are not going to work, will throw some errors in between, but we dont have any other option. Still servers port opening is not ready, thats happening parallely. In this situation, is it really necessary to take it live by today?

Wait till tomorrow to know whether we made it today..... (and only tomorrow i will reveal the site name).

Thee Nagar - felt the heat

(For people who doesnt know tamil, Thee = Fire). Actually i felt the heat when i watched this movie. The movie is so bad, that it tested my patience for 2 hrs. Thanks to editor for trimming this movie to 2 hrs. More than that i would have burnt.

The one good thing i could get from this movie is, Unemployed people should not worry, instead they should look opportunity for self-employment. But, this concept got over in first 15 minutes itself. For the remaining 1hr and 45mins, i have to fight with myself whether to continue watching this movie or not.

The movie reminds me of scenes from "Dhil", vickram movie. Its the same story of police taking revenge on hero, but for a different reason. I didnt expected this movie from karan, as he choosed good roles for the last two movies. Especially for people who like karan because of movie "Kokki", this movie is a disaster.

Even the music director disappointed. He would have slept while composing music. I appreciate the confidence of producer who invested money in this project. If he is able to get some money out of this, the only reason is because of karans previous movies.

Petrol cheaters at petrol bunks

Nowadays lot of petrol bunks started to cheat the customers. Earlier they use to reduce the quality, but recently they implemented lot of innovative ways to cheat. (will they sit and think?).

There are lot of scenarios in which the guys who fill the petrol will cheat customers. Some of which i know, i am sharing here.

When you go to fill the petrol and you ask for petrol of 100rs, before the guy starts filling the tank the cashier will divert your attention by asking few list of questions like Are you going to pay by cash / card. If card is it credit card / petro card etc. In the mean time, the other guy will fill the tank, where he would not have started the meter count from zero. May be he would have started from 30rs, so he would have filled for only 70rs and actually we pay 100rs. ( I was a victim for this kind of situation for about 3 times)

In other situation, he would have filled 50rs for one customer and when we go near the pump, he will stand in front of us exactly hiding the meter. He will act like resetting the meter to zero, but actually he wont, as he clearly know that he is hiding.

In few situations if you see the zero reading in meter before they start filling, they will try to take your concentration away from meter before it reaches 100rs. Like while filling the tank itself, the cashier will ask you to move a bit forward or will try to collect cash from you and in the mean time the other guy would reset the meter quickly saying he filled. whereas he would have actually filled only for upto 70rs.

Likewise there are lot of tricks these people use to follow. We should take care for not to be cheated. The only way to avoid those tricks are to watch the meter reading from zero to the desired amount, even though there will be lot of distractions from them.

CASH - is it worth for our cash

I watched this movie yesterday after the temptation created by my friend. But the movie is not worth for such an expectation. It was compared with dhoom, but imagine the screenplay in dhoom, this movie lacks it.

This movie from Anubhav sinha is not as good as his previous same genre "DUS". This movie has a huge star cast - Ajay Devgan, Sunil shetty, Zyed khan, Ritiesh, Shamitha shetty, Dia mirza, Esha Deol. Music by Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar Ravjiani. Music is good and they done their part well in Background Music also.

This movie is a treat for eyes as they have choosen a very good place in SouthAfrica for the plot. The movie is all about planning and stealing money, diamond, paiting. The movie goes well with all chasing scenes etc, except for the lack of screenplay sometimes which makes us to get bored.

They have used animations in lot of places, which could have been avoided. Overall this movie will be a good timepass.

Great Khali - for wrestling fans

Yesterday i was watching a series of Great Khali matches. The first match of khali which i saw is from wrestlemania 23, where he won the match against Kane. It was amazing to see his performance. The monster, Kane is beaten by Khali. Its actually a suprise for me.

Dalip Singh Rana is the original name and the ring name is Great Khali. He is a wrestler from India (we should proud of it). He is a giant of 7ft and 3in tall, with 191kgs in weight and born in 1972. Actually he is an officer in punjab police department. He made his first appearance in pro wrestling in america on 1996. But he joined WWE only on Jan 2006 and made his debut on april 2006 with a match against Funaki. (ofcourse khali won the match).

The advantage with him is, height. He can make use of it a lot, but he is not utilizing it properly. He actually submitted himself in a match against John Cena for a single stroke, where john cena could able to make it up after getting lot of bashes from Khali. The problem with khali, which i noticed is, he is not fast and he doesnt have a good stamina. He is moving like a robot, instead should move his body flexibly. Also, he should improve his stamina like Kane.

Already he became a champion and made indians proud, but if he improve in keeping his body flexible and stamina, he will be become unbeaten.

The final verdict for Sanjay Dutt

Bollywood Actor Sanjay dutt is given a SIX year jail term related to 1993 Mumbai serial blasts for illegal possession of weapons. There are lot of people involved in this case and got punishment also in the past months. But why such a publicity for sanjay alone? Just because he is an actor.....

People are looking at him as an actor, instead of criminal. If a common man has done it or if sanjay dutt doesnt have the actor fame, will there be such a publicity - will there be a delay in justice - will there be affidavits filed in support for him?

Even i like sanjay as an actor. He is one of my favourites, especially as munnabhai. But does it mean, he can skip law. People should see the individual seperately from his profession, just like the judge saw it. Only because judge seen him as a criminal, sanjay was sentences for 6 years.

Now he has got discount also :)) The discount is for 16 months which he has already spent in jail during 1993 after the blast. Even though he is a very good actor, when comes to crime, i personally feel that he should be punished. Sometimes i also feel pity for him, the only reason being i know him as an actor.

Veerappu - Average

Veerappu - The same old wine, nothing new. Its actually a remake of malayalam movie "spadikam" of mohanlal. This masala entertainer done good in malayalam with the fame of mohanlal, but does sundar.c worth it. He has defnitely improved a lot with his performance from his previous movie, but this movie expect more from him. He still has to do lot of homework.

The story is about a father and son, where father wants his son to become mathematician and the son is interested in science. So, the unhappy father always curses and demotivates his son, who finally becomes a rowdy. (Nothing new in tamil cinema). At the end of the movie, father realises his mistakes and son also accepts his father. (The traditional cinema technic).

Viveks comedy track gives some relief in between. Music is lesser than average. Director tried his best to drive the movie in a good pace and the climax is fine example for it.

I cannot say, this is must watch or worth to watch. But if you have no other movies to watch and desperate to see any movie, then give a try for this.

Die Hard 4.0 - Dedicated to Hackers

This latest version (its so appropriate to call version) of the Die Hard series is really a treat to action lovers. This movie live upto expectations is what i could say. From the beginning till end, the action scenes didnt took a break. An excellent movie in the die hard series.

I actually felt like watching a james bond movie (not casino royale). This movie is more about hackers. Hackers are shutting down every computer system and network in the country. Sometimes, i felt so weird about the existance of these kind of hackers. They are able to hack and intrude into everything. Where do they learn these things?

So, the story goes like this... (can be easily guessed) Bruce willis is behind the hackers to save the country. His only target is to kill them. In the process he is taking the help from two other hackers to save the nation. (how come government didnt recruit these kind of brilliant professionals?). As the story goes, bruce daughter is kidnapped by the bad guys. So, our hero has to kill the guys to save country and also has to save his daughter.

Story plot is nothing new as we always know, bad guys will hack and good guy will save. Few of the scenes remind me of the movie "SWORD FISH", a good old movie having john travolta in the lead. Its also purely based on hacking, only bank accounts.

Die Hard 4.0 is a very good time pass, it never allows us to relax. From the beginning, movie goes in a very good pace. Surely, it will entertain you.

Resistance to Change

Resistance to change is the action taken by individuals, when they perceive that a change that is occurring as a threat to them. In its usual description it refers to change within organizations, although it also found elsewhere in other forms. Resistance is the equivalent of objections in sales and disagreement in general discussions. Resistance may take many forms, including active or passive, overt or covert, individual or organized, aggressive or timid.

Resistance to change can occur in many scenarios. For instance, in an automobile industry, if we introduce machines to automate work, labours will resist as its a threat to their job. Even the accounting softwares is a threat to auditors or accountants as it can replace them. Each individual would have shown his resistance for any change which occured, if he is not comfortable with that.

I am not an exception for it. I have expressed uncomfortableness in my work place itself, when i cant accept the change happened. For example, when i was moved under a new boss, when people try to pull out my resources for their work, when there is a new process introduced to do certain things, etc.

This changes are very common in any work place, but people are always tend to be in their own comfort zone and not willing to move out of it. So, if there is any change which will disturb their comfort zone, then they will show some resistance to the change, like i showed. But, now i realized that change is the only constant thing in life. At some stage in life, each individual has to accept this fact and live accordingly. The more we accept the changes, the more we can live happily.

Fear of Failure

The main block to success is fear of failure. Because failing is never fun, some of us choose not to risk it. And in the process of avoiding failures, they miss the thrill of success, hardwork, new approaches and whatelse, the excitement in life.

Trying a new approach might result in failure. So what? Really, what is the worst that could happen? So you identify a talent, cultivate it into a strength, and fail to perform up to your expectations. Yes, it hurts, but it shouldn't undermine you completely. It is a chance to learn and to incorporate this learning into your next performance, and your next. And what if these next performances still fail to meet your standards? Well, it hurts some more. But it should also tell you something: You might be searching for your strengths in the wrong places. Despite the hurt, you are at least freed up to redirect your search more productively. As the wit W. C. Fields advised: "If at first you don't succeed, try again. Then quit. There is no point making a fool of yourself."

Even though there are so many proverbs, stories and facts about great people who failed lot of times but succeeded finally and changed the way the world was with their inventions, still there are people who doesnt attempt new things because of fear. Society also should change from cursing the people who fail to encouraging them in finding the mistake and fix it.

A train will never met with an accident, if it doesnt move. But it is not meant for it. similiarly, people wont fail, if they doesnt do anything, but they are not for it. People should realize failures are stepping stones for success.

The 3rd leading cause of death for Teenagers

Suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15 to 24-year-olds. Sounds strange, but its a fact. Depression will be the primary cause which leads to this. Depresession will come because of various reasons.

Depression is something that goes much deeper than the normal ups and downs of life. Depression is a medical condition that negatively affects how a person feels, thinks, and acts. The illness is an intense sadness that, in addition to a variety of other crippling symptoms, lasts for more than a couple of weeks. It is a serious health problem that can alter a person's behavior, physical health, appearance, academic performance, and the ability to deal with everyday decisions.

Some facts about suicides and depression :
One in four families is affected by a mental health problem.
Nineteen million adults in the United States suffer from some form of depression every year.
Talking through feelings may help a friend recognize the need for professional help. By showing friendship and concern and giving uncritical support, you can encourage a friend to talk to a trusted adult about treatment.
Since 1970, teen/youth sucide rates have tripled.
Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among college students.
60 percent of high school boys have thought about suicide, 9 percent have attempted suicide.
Males are 4 times more likely to die from a suicide attempt than are females because they tend to use more effective methods.
80 to 90 percent of people with depression can be treated.

Having the above facts, still the count is not reduced. It only increases. The person who attempts suicide only can prevent it. If people have enough confidence on themselves, this word doesnt exists. Fear to face the future, problems, competition etc is leading to this abnormal decision. People should think about it and change the way of thinking / approach to anything. The government can also boost self-confidence in children by having it as a part of curriculum in school. But, until the individual is ready to face the fear, nothing can be changed.

Has thale choosen the right Kireedom?

This movie is originally inspired by a malayalam movie. Malayalam movies are known for its good story and realistic view. No wonder Kireedom is good. The movie is set in Trichirapalli, is all about a honest police constable Rajarajan (Rajkiran) who dreams of making his son, Shakthivel(Ajith) a Sub-Inspector of police. Being an honest policeman always has its price, and Raja Rajan is transferred. In the new place, Ajith ends up thrashing the villain and now the wounded Villian wants revenge. And the rest of the movie is all about how Ajith faces the problem, and whether he becomes the inspector or not.

A.L. vijay, as a director, done an excellent job in shaping up the movie, with great story. But the pace of the movie is not maintained through out the movie. G.V. Prakash's Music is only average. It’s very hard to pick who impresses more, Ajith or Rajkiran. Ajith has done the role to perfection. His screen presence and dialogue delivery proves why he is having such big fan following. And Rajkiran as Ajith’s father has given a flawless performance. He is proving time and again about his acting skills, and this performance will surely rank amongst his best. Vivek and Santhanam, stays only for a while and does their part in the given time.

I am not sure, how much this movie will do commercially. But, its an undoubted quality movie. This movie will surely be a kireedom for ajith.

Sivaji, The boss - Is he a real boss?

Sivaji, The Boss is a Tamil language film released on June 15 2007. Directed by S.Shankar and stars Rajinikanth, Shriya, Vivek and Suman in the lead roles. Music by A.R.Rehman and produced by A.V.M. The giants have come together for this blockbuster. Sivaji had the biggest opening so far in history of Indian cinema with the producers claiming collections of Rs. 2.5 crores in advance booking from Chennai alone. The movie is estimated to have been released more than 1000 screens worldwide, and it is 100% opening worldwide.

Rajini already had a good market in Japan and this time he proved himself in U.K., Singapore, Gulf, U.S.A, few african countries etc. It is the biggest event which is happening during third week of june, 2007. Everywhere, it spreaded with sivaji waves. And shankar did his best in this film also, with his direction, graphics, the sets and so on.

How rajini made this, when we are in a situation that bollywood heros are the only famous personalities across the world, from indian cine industry? Surely rajini jumped up to top by pushing the bollywood badhshahs. The ultimate proof is "jhoom barabar jhoom" which didnt had good opening in north, while sivaji did well in north india also.

So, whats special in this movie. Its the same plot which we already seen in indian cinema where hero will try to do good for his country and in the process he will become poor and also his dream will be burried by villian. Then hero will come back with a master plan, regain his wealth and also fulfill his dream. Even there is nothing new from shankar in terms of story. This is a mix from his old movies.

The success behind this revolutionary film will be the one and only Rajini. Also we cannot avoid shankar, as his contribution is awesome. Even though the film is not too good, rajini made his magic to attract audiences and created history again. The real super star.

Is facing problem a problem?

In this competitive era, there is no one who could say, he is free from problems. If there is some one like that, then he is not living his life (equal to dead / must be saints). Problems are part of our life. Obstacles will come only if you walk through the way. By standing still you wont see any obstacle, but that is not life is for. Life is to live and to live you have to face the problems. Escaping from problems is foolishness. Face the situation honestly and take decisions intelligently. Also should have the courage to Confess when wrong. Before any problem can be solved there first must be an admission that there is a problem.

From child to old person, problem leaves no one. What ever may be the obstacle, river will flow through it and reach the destination. It doesnt stop. Same with wind also. Likewise, humans should not fear for problems. Some people feel that a Psychiatric could help them. But he also will try to boost up your confidence level, which you can do yourself. The basic focus of psychology is self. Psychology attempts to improve self, repair self, value self, esteem self, love self, find self, forgive self.

First thing to be noted is not to panic in problematic situation. Handle situations in cool way. Becoming tensed will not solve the problem, rather it could worse the situation. Any problem will have a solution and the time to solve it depends on your maturity level in thinking. Fear will help in no way and taking strange decisions (suicide) in that situations is what cowards will do. Be brave and feel high about yourself. Have confidence and not over-confidence. Always think you are best and can solve any problems at ease and do it.

Deadline - Death line

The most dangerous word in software industry - Deadline. Like how people doesnt like the word "Bugs" (except for quality people), they also dont like deadlines. If anything is reasonable, it will be appreciated. But deadlines are always fixed in such a way that developers will be always lagging. Is it the problem with the bosses - not always. There are some situations where immediate boss is the reason for such deadlines. But in most of the cases, these deadlines are driven by customers who pays or internal clients.

They generally give requirement today but want it to be completed yesterday. Thats the way they approach always. This doesnt happens in any industry other than IT. If you book a car, you have to wait for a fixed period of time. As the price range increases, the days to wait will also increase. There no one will argue for getting it soon. This is not only in automobile industry, but everywhere.

In all occupations, they have certain time limit for doing their work. Take example of construction, textile, manufacturing industries. They will have fixed timelines for their work. Even for pizza delivery they have their own timelines.

Then why this pathetic situation in software industry. Is it because, this is more competitive? Is it because here the players and alternatives are enormous? Is it because the concern is more inclined towards the contract rather than the resources? Is it because of the false commitment of the business division? Is it because of the wrong projection from the management? Is it because the programmers are ready to die for work? When this situation is going to change?

What are we running for?

This topic is dedicated for IT professionals. (Like me).

Every individual is busy, seems running to achieve something. But is he going to fully utilize it. The answer is NO. This running started from childhood and never ended until we die. Where are we running to? Who is our competitor? What do we gain? People’s nature of cursing the past and worrying about the future by killing the present is the reason for all this.

The Running Race started from the age ONE when the child started to speak. Parents will torture the children by teaching them new words, especially alphabets, numbers and rhymes. (Then why the hell, school and teachers are there for?). Soon, kids will be joined in school. Even the evenings are not spared. For dull students, there will be special classes / Tuitions. For intelligent students, awaits other special courses to fill up the evening. (All work and no play makes jack a dull boy – Is this forgotten?).

After school, the trouble is not over. Now, there is a bigger trouble called college. Again the students have to perform better by doing hard work, so that they can get job. After joining in a IT company, does the person live happily? Now he/she has to run very fast to excel in the competitive world of IT. Study new things everyday, also meeting deadlines with a deadly schedule. So, when does this running stops? After marriage he has to run for his wife, then for children and it continues until he/she dies.

At every stage each individual thinks or forced to think, that he has to work hard to enjoy the next stage. But in reality, in every stage he suffers more than the earlier stage. Is it really worth to continue like this. We are trying to earn more and more money, but for whom. We are not enjoying with it, as we don’t even have time to think about it. Even it is not used for our children to live happily, because at the age of ONE, we put our children in Race. So, finally who is going to make use of this money? Think, Think, Think, Think, Think.....

Potter mania

I am sure that the Harry potter wave should have reached in all corners of the world yesterday. Harry potter, many people think that this book / movie are only for kids and parents are just accompanying kids. But the fact is, it also attracted elders. I personally know many of my friends and their friends who were waiting to watch this movie. Of course, I am also a victim for it. Even though, I like horror, action movies, I can’t avoid watching this genre of movies.

Now coming to the movie, Harry potter and the order of the Phoenix, it doesn’t live up to the expectations is what I have to conclude with. Out of the 5 potter movies, which are released till now, this must be the weakest in the series. For the people who have read the book, this movie must be a disappointment. There is lot of scenes which is missed out from the book and few new scenes are added. First half of the movies is a bit dragging and the climax is awesome.

Verdict: If you forget the actual story which is available in the book and watch the movie without the impact of the previous movies in the series, this movie CAN entertain you.

My first post

A Friday occurring on the 13th day of any month is considered to be a day of bad luck in few countries. This Friday, thirteen, phobia didnt affect me, because i am starting my first blog today. Does it mean, i am evil. Certainly not. I dont believe in these things. I always stay away from these superstitions.

Since i started my blogging today, let me discuss about Friday 13th itself. No historical date has been verifiably identified as the origin of the superstition. Before the 20th century, although there is evidence that the number 13 was considered unlucky, and Friday was considered unlucky, there was no link between them. The first documented mention of a "Friday the 13th" is generally listed as occurring in the early 1900's.

It's been estimated that [U.S] $800 or $900 million is lost in business on this day because people will not fly or do business they would normally do.

A British Medical Journal study has shown that there is a significant increase in traffic-related accidents on Friday the 13ths. (Funny coincidence hahahahaha).

OK. Enough of 13th, i need to get back to work. Will come back with good topic. Hopefully not about saturday the 14th. (hehe).
